Byzantine Castle in Kassiopi
The Castle is a sittuated on the northeastern coast of Corfu overseeing the fishing village of Kassiopi. It was one of three Byzantine-period castles that defended the island before the Venetian era (1386-1797). The castles formed a defensive triangle, with Gardiki guarding the island’s south, Kassiopi the northeast and Angelokastro the northwest.
This historic ‘Heritage Protected’ village is in ‘A Designated Area of Natural Beauty’, situated on the attractive north east corner of the island, and just below Mount Pantokrator (The Almighty).
The Cape Drastis is hidden within a beautiful wooded landscape in the North Block of Corfu and specifically in the traditional village of Peroulades. Access is relatively easy with any vehicle, even by foot for the more athletic types!
Porto Timoni – Afionas
Located next to the Village Afionas and it is a narrow strip of land that separates two of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu . The water is crystal clear and the beaches are covered by pebbles . One peculiarity is that each beach has a different temperature so you can choose on which of the two you will make your dive . The path that comes from the village is well walked. During this walk you will be able to enjoy the view of the bay of St. George and a little later the view of the cape . It is worth staying up late to Porto Timoni to admire the sunset from the beach.
Angelokastro at Krini Village
Angelokastro – “Castle of Angels” or “Angelos’s castle” is located at the top of the highest peak of the island’s shoreline in the northwest coast near Palaiokastritsa and is one of the most important Byzantine castles of Greece.
La Grotta, Paleokastritsa
